There isn’t much time left in the summer transfer window and Manchester United could yet make one more signing.
MEN Sport revealed today that Ryan Gravenberch is on Erik ten Hag’s wishlist, with the United boss open to making a late move for the Bayern Munich midfielder. The pair worked together at Ajax and it’s understood Ten Hag is keen on a reunion.
United’s hunt for a midfielder comes after they were torn apart in the centre of the park against Wolves and Tottenham last week. The club had already been linked with a move for Sofyan Amrabat after Fred left for Fenerbahce and Ten Hag confirmed Donny van de Beek would not be considered for selection.
It’s unclear whether Van de Beek will complete a move away before next Friday’s deadline, and he’s not the only one whose future is up in the air. Harry Maguire, Brandon Williams and Eric Bailly are just some of the players who could well head for pastures new before next week’s deadline.
Stay up to date with all the latest United news all day long.

OPINION: United are taking a risk with their midfield in the transfer market
“Yves Bissouma, Moises Caicedo and Alexis Mac Allister were developed into elite midfielders by Brighton. United were ahead of the curve with Caicedo and in negotiations to sign him in January 2021, but they passed on him this summer as he became British football’s most expensive transfer. Now there is a danger United will be behind the curve. Caicedo, Jude Bellingham, Declan Rice and Romeo Lavia have all secured transfers this summer and United will need to recruit a midfielder cut from the same cloth within the next 12 months.”

OPINION: Ten Hag already has the answer to United midfield concern
“There are 12 days until the transfer window closes and if United are to re-enter the market, public opinion suggests it should be for a midfielder. Consistent links to Sofyan Amrabat suggest the main point of concern for Ten Hag is cover for Casemiro. The Brazilian will turn 32 in February and is prone to a suspension or two, with United struggling to fill the void in his absence last season. They will expect to play 60-plus games again this year and cannot rely on their midfield veteran for all of them. A new signing would excite fans in that respect but Ten Hag must plan beyond the next few weeks. United’s only current cover for Casemiro is Scott McTominay but Kobbie Mainoo will soon be in the picture, once he recovers from an ankle injury picked up in pre-season.”

Saudi club ‘weighing up’ move for Varane
Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad are ‘weighing up’ a move for United centre-back Raphael Varane, according to Italian journalist Rudy Galetti, as cited by Inside Futbol.
A number of big-name Premier League players have swapped England for the Saudi league this summer and Varane is the latest name to be linked with a move.
The Frenchman, however, is a key player for Erik ten Hag and scored the winner in last Monday’s 1-0 win over Wolves at Old Trafford.

Pavard transfer update amid Manchester United and Inter Milan links
Inter Milan CEO Giuseppe Marotta confirmed his club is in talks with Bayern Munich to sign Manchester United-linked Benjamin Pavard.
The French right-back was linked with United earlier this month when it looked as though Harry Maguire would be moving to West Ham. However, that deal has fallen through, lessening United’s need to sign a new defender for the time being.
Earlier this week, Simone Inzaghi told reporters he was looking at Pavard but wished not to comment further on a player who was not on his team’s books. Marotta has now confirmed Inter’s interest in the Frenchman.

United Women’s goalkeeper Mary Earps wins Golden Glove
Manchester United Women’s goalkeeper Mary Earps was forced to pick herself off the floor to claim the World Cup Golden Glove after England were beaten 1-0 by Spain in the final on Sunday.
The Lionesses suffered heartbreak in Sydney as Olga Carmona’s 29th-minute effort proved decisive, ending hopes of. first World Cup since 1966. Earps was once again outstanding, keeping hopes alive with a brilliant second-half penalty save.
Unfortunately, Spain were able to hold on despite the missed spot-kick and Earps fell to the ground after more than 14 minutes of extra-time and the full-time whistle. The Reds‘ shot-stopper cut a devastated figure and was consoled by her international teammates.

Shearer disagrees with Bruno Fernandes after United loss
Alan Shearer doesn’t believe Manchester United should have been awarded a penalty for handball against Tottenham Hotspur.
United felt they should’ve had a spot-kick in the first half when Alejandro Garnacho’s shot struck the outstretched arm of Cristian Romero. Referee Michael Oliver waved the appeals away and there was no VAR intervention to overturn the decision.
Erik ten Hag and Bruno Fernandes both felt United should’ve been awarded a penalty but Shearer disagreed. He did, however, concede that there has been little consistency in the awarding of handball decisions.
